Breaking the ice...

So, I wanted to start writing blogs. I don't know why -- I've been fond of writing and expressing myself in various forums since I was in school, but somehow, I didn't have much of the presence in the digital world. The last time, I wrote something seriously was my marathon race report - apart from random dairy write ups.

The next major issue was theme - what to write about? That was a very good question - because I had to find a one word description that expresses me! That's not as easy as you might think. So, what am I? Well, that's even more difficult question. Finally I thought, what's my real passion? And one word description that came to my mind was "Nature". I believe Nature-Loving is my passion. Many of my hobbies / other interests also revolve around that, so why not something about Nature? And I definitely wanted to have a word from Gujarati (my mother tongue). I wanted to have prkruti.blogspot.com - but it was already taken. 'Nisarg' was also taken. So I gave a twist to the word "prakruti" and made it "prakrutee". So, here you go!

What am I gonna post here? Nothing serious - my thoughts, my experiences and such.

Currently, I'm reading two books - "Wild Trees" by Richard Preston and "Astitvano Utsav" by Gunvant Shah. The first one is about California redwood trees and passion and daring of some of the people who explored them. The second one is a 'critic' (bhashy) on ancient Sanskrit book 'Ishawashy Upnishad'. Aryans were true nature lovers and a deep sense of appreciation towards nature always shows up in Veds and Upnishads. But, I'll save that topic for a later time. Just wanted to say that reading these two books and taking a short hike today at Rancho San Antonio park with Priya (my companion) and Ved (our son) were the triggers that encouraged me to finally create the blog.

That's it for now!
